Pin-ups Helping the Homeless in Chicago
What: In the spirit of Rosie the Riveter, these pin-up girls are rolling up their sleeves to give direct assistance to some who are experiencing homelessness in Chicago. Using the profits from the vintage-inspired pin-up calendar sponsored by Chicago’s own BettyVonChic Boutique, the project aims to provide survival kits and certain necessities to homeless Chicagoans beginning with those at Belmont and Kedzie in the Avondale neighborhood.
When/Where: The calendars will be available in early November with 100% of the profits going to provide the kits to those in need. BettyVonChic and her crew will personally distribute the items in an effort to help the homeless, and true to the original pin-up culture and their old-school American values, everyone involved with the project is volunteering their time, talents and resources. Photographers, makeup artists, wardrobe and hairstylists will come together on October 6th in Chicago to create tasteful and empowering images featuring local ladies who embody the strength, compassion, and bombshell attitude from a bygone era.
